Sensational: Hannes Mielmann is world welding champion

A major milestone for BUTTING in Knesebeck – at the end of October, the World Welding Championship took place in Beijing. Here, the talented young welder Hannes Mielmann secured the title of world champion in TIG welding (tungsten inert gas welding).

Hannes had already won the “district”, “state” and “national” competitions. With this outstanding performance, he not only demonstrated his exceptional abilities and became the first employee in the history of the family-owned company to win a world championship title.

“This is a first for BUTTING, and we are very proud of his impressive achievement,” says company owner Hermann Butting.

TIG welding is a highly precise welding process that is widely used in metal processing. Nevertheless, Hannes found conditions different from those in Knesebeck: there were only partial translations of the Chinese language and writing. It was all the more impressive that Hannes was able to prevail against numerous competitors, including those from Mongolia, Russia, China and Senegal. The demands were very high. He had to prove his skills in three demanding welding tasks.

In order to support Hannes as well as possible, BUTTING sponsored his preparations and the trip.

Christoph Meyer, a trainer at BUTTING, is thrilled by the performance of his protégé, whom he accompanied on his trip to Beijing: “We are all incredibly proud of Hannes and are celebrating this outstanding result.”
