Pensioners' Christmas celebrations at BUTTING

On 10 December, the annual pensioners’ Christmas celebrations took place at BUTTING in Knesebeck. More than 70 former employees, both pensioners and people in early retirement, accepted the invitation of the Management and the Works Council to visit the festively decorated canteen of the family business.

As is traditional, the Works Council team took on the organisation of the festive afternoon – together they ensured that the event ran smoothly and handed out little Christmas presents to the senior citizens invited.

Managing Director Thomas Schüller and Works Council Chairman Detlev Wolter delivered short speeches of welcome to the invited guests. In his look back at 2015, Thomas Schüller reported on the company news – the purchase of new machines and the handling of the major order for the Kashagan oilfield in the Caspian Sea.

After the informative part of the celebration, the large cake buffet was opened. As in previous years, the members of the Works Council had again provided a big selection of home-baked cakes. Managing Director Thomas Schüller mingled with the guests and anecdotes from BUTTING’s past were shared among all the participants. The former employees were also welcomed by the owner of the family business, Hermann Butting. He explained that a company archive is currently being created, and asked the guests to hunt out private treasures relating to the company’s history and send them in to the archive. A small snack was then served at the end of the event, as every year.
