The participants working at the BUTTING Akademie integration workshop proudly presented their finished pieces to the public on Open Day. It was wonderful to see how many people turned up and showed an interest in their work.

Several hundred visitors were on site at the end of September to look at what 30 participants had produced in the integration workshop financed by the Gifhorn Job Centre.
The guests loved the products and creations, such as fancy birdhouses, chic bags and practical potholders made from recycled fire-fighter jackets. Many guests took advantage of the opportunity and happily acquired these products for a donation. The visitors were also able get an understanding of the cooperations with non-profit institutions, e.g. in the shape of play kitchens, play houses and raised beds.

"Our big goal on this day was to show the public how important the work of the people in the integration workshop is for society," emphasises Uschi Schüller, head of the integration workshop. "Visitors were able to see that long-term jobseekers are deployed in a meaningful way and that, even without employment, they have a valuable place in our society."

The event was of great significance for the people working there and they will remember it for a long time because the enthusiasm of the guest made them feel appreciated and provided them with self-confidence. True to the motto "...for greater recognition and mutual respect".
