BUTTING takes part in walk4help

On 26 May, a city walk for a good cause took place in Braunschweig – the walk4help. More than 11,000 participants from the Braunschweig-Wolfsburg region walked around 52,000 kilometres together. This symbolically circumnavigated the world and at the same time set a signal against child poverty in the region. A new world record. BUTTING was also present at the charity event.

“Participation in walk4help was a completely successful experience. Doing good things together with colleagues and your own family, having fun and experiencing community – that was the perfect fit”, says Antje Hausmann, a member of the executive support staff at BUTTING.

26 executives from BUTTING and their families – a total of 60 participants – gathered in time for the start of the 4.2 kilometre round trip at 11.30 a.m. En route there were staging-points that were supposed to represent the continents of Africa, America, Asia, Australia and Europe. True to the motto “Once around the world”, each participant picked up a stamp on his passport when entering a continent.

Throughout the day, a family party with music and food from around the world took place in BraWoPark. Children had a good time too. From kangaroo boxing and a jungle bouncy castle to the gold washing facility, a varied programme was offered for the kids. Also present were numerous celebrity supporters of the action such as Peter Maffay, Uschi Glas and Arthur Abraham.

More than 1.1 million euros were collected at the BraWo Volksbank charity walk for social projects in the region through takings from entry fees and other donations. In the Gifhorn district, the “Family Companion” project is to be supported, among other things. The aim is to offer short-term assistance to families in special circumstances. Karin Single, Head of Department for Children, Youth and Family at the German Red Cross (DRK), in Gifhorn district, explains: “In such difficult everyday situations, many families realise that there simply are not enough relief options available to keep a clear head and escape when things get a bit too much. This often has a negative impact on family life and especially on the children.”

Since BUTTING has been supporting the United Kids Foundations for years, it was a matter of course for the family company to take part in walk4help.

BUTTING will be there in the next walk4help as well.
