On the day their training started, the 39 apprentices and their families gathered outside the Knesebeck premises and listened to an address by Business Unit Manager Henning Lütkemüller: "I can remember quite clearly when I started my apprenticeship as a systems mechanic here in Knesebeck." He also drew on his own career to give an account of what makes BUTTING so special and why young people are essential for the future of the company. "Young employees bring a breath of fresh air to a traditional company, because lifelong learning from each other is the basic building block for personal growth and BUTTING's success." An eventful first day included a guided tour through different production areas, refreshments and an introduction session with the apprentices.
This launch event was followed by "team week", during which each apprentice from the 11 trainee occupations learned how BUTTING is structured as a company and got to know their fellow apprentices on a more personal level. This year, the apprentices were particularly excited about being given iPads. Together with Carsten Kamke, who is responsible for industrial-technical training at BUTTING in Knesebeck, all devices were set up in order to, as he says, "always be digitally up to date within training."
Twelve new systems mechanics apprentices also started at the Schwedt site to provide effective support for vessel production at BUTTING Anlagenbau. Trainer Roland Hoffmüller is particularly pleased that "this year, two girls opted for industrial-technical training at BUTTING in Schwedt." On 9 July, all apprentices and their parents were invited to learn more about BUTTING Schwedt, to take part in a tour of the company and to meet the other apprentices in advance.
